Mobile Standard Relationship Overview

Mobile Solution Vendor사는 이동통신 솔루션은 국제 규격 준수를 통한 상호 호환성 확보 및 국제 로밍/연결성이 필수이며, 이를 위한 제품 개발시 3GPP, 3GPP2, IETF,  OMA의 Spec을 참조하여 제품을 만들게 된다. 일반인의 입장에서 본 Spec을 보고 이해하는 것은 어렵지만, 규격의 전체적인 구성을 파악하면 이동통신 서비스의 필요한 구성 및 흐름을 이해할 수 있을 것 같아 공유한다.

 

 

1. 3GPP(GSM,WCDMA)  / 3GPP2(CDMA)

   3GPP는 ETSI(유럽), ARIB/TTC(일본), CCSA(중국), ATIS(북미), TTA(한국)의 표준화 협의체를 주축으로  1998년 설립되었다. 3rd Generation Partnership Project의 약어임.

   3GPP2는 IS-95/CDMA2000 (CDMA)기반의 표준화 협의체임.

 

  버전별 큰 구성 흐름은 다음과 같음.

현재 우리나라에서 적용하는 버전은 Rel.5 기반이며, 이통사 R&D에서는 Rel.6이상을 준비하고 있다.

2. IETF

    W3C와 ISO/IEC와 상호간의 인터넷 표준 수립을 하고 있는 단체 Internet Engineering Task Force의 약어.

    Applications Area , General Area, Internet Area, Operations and Management Area, Real-time Applications and Infrastructure Area, Routing Area, Security Area, Transport Area 분야에서 해당 분야의 표준을 만들고 있음.

 

 

3. OMA

    2002년도에 WAP Forum, SyncML 컨소시엄, Location Ieteroperability Forum, Mobile Games Interoperability Forum, Mobile Wireless Internet Forum이 통한된 Mobile 산업의 응용 서비스 표준화 및 상호호환성을 위한 단체임. 3GPP, 3GPP2, IETF, W3C와 Liason을 맺고 있으며, Mobile 응용 Application의 Bibile 역할을 하고 있다. Open Mobile Alliance의 약어.

 Requirement(DPE, Look and Feel), Architecture(OSE, PEEM, ParlayinOSE), Security(Security Common Function), Push to talk over cellular, Messaging(Mobile eMail, CPM, MMS), Presence & Availability, Device Management(DM,CP,FUMO,SCOMO,SMWSI,..), Data Sync, Location, Mobile Web Service, Browser & Content(DRM, DCD, BCAST), Mobile Commerce & Charging의 Work Group으로 구성된다.

이동통신 사업자 규격협의체 - OMTP

OMTP (Open Mobile Terminal Platform, http://www.omtp.org) 협의체는 이동통신사 주축으로 단말 플랫폼의 표준을 제정하여 상호간 호환성 유지라는 목적으로 만들어진 협의체이다. OMA등의 규격을 포함하고, 이통사 사업자를 위한 규격/호환성 정의도 한다.

Cingular Wireless, Hutchison 3G, Orange, SK Telecom, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Telenor, T-Mobile and Vodafone의 9개 이통사가 Full Member 역학을 하고 있고 다음과 같은 Spec을 내 놓았다.

Mobile Instant Messenger/ Presence

http://www.followap.com 에서 Vodafone, 3 에서 적용한 Presence / IM 관련 Solution이다.
접근을 Presence 서버와 Client IM 위주로 했지만 타 메신저와의 호환성 및 기업용 Mobile IM등 휴대단말과 SMS,MMS,IM/Buddy와의 통합이 된 것 같이 선전하고 있다.

국내에는 INTICUBE(http://www.inticube.com)와 Nable(http://www.nablecomm.com)이 Preparing 중임

향후 쌍방향 모바일 동영상 플랫폼으로 어떤 플랫폼이 대세로 떠오를까?
국내 지상파 T-DMB는 BIFS로 굳혀진 것 같고,
모바일 부분도 Next generation platform의 Hot Issue 일거라 추측된다.

- 아직 표준으로는 제정되기 전의 Candidate 단계의 모음이다. Requirement Document는 각 기능에 대해서 필요한 요구사항들을 정리해 놓은 문서라고 볼수 있으며, 이것이 결국 Spec이 된다. 최근 동적대기화면인 DCD, 모바일 메신저, Smartcard Web server, PTT over Cellular가 Candidate되었다.

OMA Enabler Releases

모바일 부분에서 아주 중요한 협회를 고르라면 OMA, 3GPP, 3GPP2, TTA, IETF 라 보면된다.
6.27 시점에서의 Public하게 공표된 OM
A Enabler Release Program은 아래와 같다.
이밖에도 진행중인 각 분야별 105개의 Working Item도 있으나 OMA 협회 회원만 참여하고 볼 수 있기때문에 Public하지 않는다.
이동통신 분야에서의 Access network 및 Core network을 제외한 Infra/Service관련한 모든 Spec은 OMA에 있기때문에
필독하면 모바일분야의 흐름에 대해서 이해할 수 있으리라 생각되어 진다.
